International Chamber Music & Masterclasses

The Festival will take place between 1st and 5th of May 2018, at the "Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa". There will Masterclasses, two Chamber Music concerts, and conferences about many music related themes.

This Festival was an ideia of two friends, João Miguel Silva and Sérgio Fernandes Pires, that are since many years studying abroad, and have taken part in many Festivals and Concerts all around Europe.

The Festival aims to inspire and enrich culturally every generation, students and general public, through the sharing of different musical ideas with all its musicians.

Those musicians, from 4 different nationalities (Portuguese, Spanish, Irish, and Polish), had already the oportunity to work together in many different formations, from small chamber music groups until big Symphonic Orchestra, and the majority of them got to know each other either at the European Union Youth Orchestra or at the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester.This experience gave them the opportunity to work with some of the best conductors, singers, soloists, and they believe that they can share some of their learnings with the students and the public.

There will be Masterclasses, both Instrumental and Chamber Music to everyone interested, so that there is the possibility to exchange ideas and knowledge in the most complete way possible.

To finish the festival, on the 4th and 5th May, there will be 2 Chamber Music Concerts.

About the author

João Miguel Moreira da Silva, (27th October 1995), started his musical studies at the age of 9, at the "Banda Filarmónica de Pêro Pinheiro", and at the same time, at the "Conservatório Regional de Sintra". Later, he entered the "Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional", where he finished the "Proffesional Degree of Wind Player", in 2013. At the moment, he is finishing his Bachelor of Music, in Christian Wetzel's class, at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. in Germany.

João Miguel Silva - Oboé

Sérgio Fernandes Pires, (1st September 1995), started his musical studies at the age of 8, at the "Escola de Música da Sociedade Filarmónica de Vieira do Minho", and in 2007, he entered the "Academia de Música Valentim Moreira de Sá", in Guimarães. At the moment, he is finishing his Master Degree, in François Benda´s class, at the Hochschule für Musik der Stadt Basel.

Is, since 2015, "SELMER" and "Silverstein Works" Artist.

Is, since 2016, Solo-Clarinet at the Musikkollegium Winterthur Orchestra.

Budget and due dates

For this Festival to happen, we need 4144 € for:

 - 1500 € for the trips;

 - 800 € for housing;

 - 1300 € for maintenance;

 - 200 € for musical scores; 

 - 356 € for taxes.
