"Sailing is necessary ..."

I am presenting some works and invite you to participate in this campaign to produce this sculpture project; The ADAMASTOR, in the execution of the mold, of the prototype and in the production of a series that will serve as a prize for those who participate.

With my head and stomach always buzzing with new ideas that insist, with a tremendous need, to be executed, I end up having no way to move forward with all the projects, because I do not have the time or the know how to get the financing for their production . And this funding is vital as they are many hours of work and a lot of money in materials invested that only come back later when they have.

Giant Adamastor is one of these projects .

(Adamastor is a Greek-type mythological character famed by the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões in his epic poem Os Lusíadas (first printed in 1572), as a symbol of the forces of nature Portuguese navigators had to overcome during their discoveries)

The objective is to continue the project with the construction of the rubber mold and the execution of the prototype.

That's why I challenge everyone to get involved in this project to see some of the Portuguese history gain form in this work that honors all the great spirits of our race.

My name is José C. Queiroz, I was born in 1965 in Lisbon, I live in Mafra, Portugal.

I'm married and we have three children.

I work in set design for television, theater, cinema, etc. But my passion is sculpture, in the development of personal projects where you can express what you want without impositions or limitations. This is reflected in my work where I assume no expressive genre because I find that it limits the purpose of art, which has in expression its means of communication to serve its purpose, without having to be beautiful or ugly, polite or rough.

In my work, I have as a favorite subject the faces of human nature. With our extraordinary ability to be human and inhumane.
