The Algarve Oncological Association (AOA) is an IPSS - Private Institution of Social Solidarity, non-profit, of Public Utility and with health purposes, which celebrates 30 years of existence on July 1, 1994.
This Institution's objectives are to fight against cancer and provide social and human support to cancer patients and their families. As fundamental support for the implementation of its projects and maintenance of its services, AOA organizes cancer prevention initiatives, as well as events and campaigns awareness and fundraising in favor of this solidarity cause.

The 2024 action plan includes the creation of a “Solidarity Agenda 2025”, which will be called “Movement for Life”.

The objectives of this initiative are to publicize the "World Days" linked to health, present in each month of the agenda, provide users who participated in the sessions with unique moments of conviviality and raise awareness about disease prevention and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. . It is worth noting that in all the photos the movement for health and life is evident, not only with the participation of the Contemporâneo Fusion dance group, but also with the presence of accessories and/or elements, such as the colors that incorporate the theme of each month.

The objective is to print 1000 diary units. To do this, we need the support of the community to have financial resources to fulfill our mission and to move forward with the planning, layout and printing of the agenda, with all the necessary actors for this purpose.

By supporting this initiative you will be contributing to the sustainability, mission and implementation of the projects of this Association, namely: support for the upgrade of equipment for Breast Cancer Screening in the Algarve (carried out by AOA, in partnership with ARS-Algarve) .

The Algarve Oncological Association, founded on July 1, 1994, is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity, non-profit, of public utility and with health purposes.

Achievements:
Breast Cancer Screening

• Carried out in partnership with ARS Algarve;
• For women aged between 50 and 69, registered at the Health Center in their area of residence;
• 3D mammography (better diagnosis and less radiation).

Algarve Radioncology Clinic

• 1st Radioncology Unit south of the Tagus (opened in 2006);
• Updated technology (2017) that allows shorter treatments and greater preservation of healthy tissues.

Other services:

• Psycho-oncology consultations;
• Stomatherapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy consultations;
• Hair prostheses, breast prostheses, bras and ergonomic swimsuits at cost price;
• Skin care, makeup, hair and teaching self-care techniques;
• Screening for skin lesions and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease);
• Information, awareness and clarification sessions on the topics of oncology, health and well-being.

Future projects:
Casa Flor das Dunas

• Temporary accommodation for patients who need radiotherapy treatment in Faro, Algarve.
