Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April Revolution, at Mértola

Many of you certainly share the desire that each day be “a whole and clean starting day” for our communities, as the admirable Sophia de Mello Breyner said.
The community in the municipality of Mértola, with marked signs of desertification and exhausted of its people, deserves for the spirit of April to flourish with the intensity that only multifaceted development can allow.
With the prospect of a full April, a group of citizens interested in a more cohesive and robust Portugal, socially and territorially, decided to organize a set of activities related to the objectives of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the revolution of the 25th of April, 1974. Together with joy and plurality in the streets of the municipality of Mértola; specifically, in Mina de S. Domingos, Santana de Cambas and in the beautiful and historic village of Mértola.
The event will take place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of May , with activities for children and young people, public stands, with concertinas and Alentejo singing, as well as a great musical show in honor of the 25th of April.
Your monetary support, however small, will be a great honour for us and the way to make this event a reality.

Slowly, as we like in Alentejo, we have to weave the intricacies of life back into the slow but steady social fabric of our times.
Let us allow ourselves to be invaded by hope, let us believe that we are capable of broad and consequential gestures so that everyone, with their share and imperious dignity, can walk together towards the place of fraternity.
