Wako Kungo was born in Lisbon, to open space for several independent artists to show their art. Right now it represents a platform and a safe community of artists and to maintain the various events we need your support.

With the amount raised, Wako Kungo Revival will promote 2 music events in the city of Lisbon and continue to open space for artists looking for a safe and collaborative community. For Lisbon, it represents a cultural and political act of resistance: maintaining art, diversity, the magic that happens when several artists meet and resonate.
The artists will be present in various cultural spaces and events, sharing their art and building their brand.

Wako Kungo Sessions

About the author

The promoter of the Wako Kungo Revival project is the Wako Kungo platform, which arises from the evolution of Wako Kungo Sessions, a safe community in Lisbon . The concept was created by Mistah Isaac in February 2022.
The approximately 50 people who initially attended the sessions quickly grew into two hundred and the numbers continue to grow.
The mission is to create a platform where independent and alternative musicians, who do not yet have the opportunity to be on big stages or with big labels, can release their work abroad.
It is a completely safe and prejudice-free space, characterized by its inclusive nature and represented by different cultures, regardless of color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, among other strong issues of identity representation.
There are sessions every month, in different parts of the city and artists who are not part of the events line-up can participate in the jam session that always takes place after the main concerts.

“We have had countless positive feedbacks from the public, comments full of love during and
after the events. Everyone who attends our sessions ends up feeling part of something
bigger and this is a goal that the Wako Kungo Sessions team wants to maintain in the long term.”

/DIAZA, Operations Director, Wako Kungo/

In the last ten years, there has been a growth in the cultural movement in the city. Artists from all over the world are centralizing in Lisbon and, in most cases, they do not have a platform to help them showcase their work. Wako Kungo comes
transform this panorama, enhancing opportunities for these artists to have their work recognized and also to have the opportunity to create contacts and connections.
Mistah Isaac curates artists for all sessions. Although at the beginning of the project Wako Kungo Sessions sought out and invited the featured artists, and continues to do so, nowadays we already have countless requests for participation from all types of musicians.

"The time has come to create a new Renaissance."
