About GAPURA:
Gapura is a project deeply rooted in world music. Its sound is highly influenced by Balkan music and Flamenco and frequently spiced up by other genres, such as Raggae, Ska, Jazz Manouche, Afrobeat and Organic Trance.
Following a path from which modern music is getting further away, the instrumental line-up is essentially acoustic. The bass being the only electric instrument, the reason behind choosing mostly acoustic instruments is clear: drums, guitars, saxophones, trumpet, flute, percussions of many sorts and many other traditional instruments from all around the world, give a special and not so common touch to the music in an universe filled with electric guitars, synthesizers and electronic beats.
All aspects of the music in Gapura are relevant and full of small details. The lyrics are not an exception. Not wanting to ignore the reality of the Portuguese society today you will find important messages in some of our songs such as "Pensa Verde" or "Mentira", in "Alma" the Portuguese classics are summoned and "Pela Rua" reminds us of the multiculturalism that boils within Lisbon.
