The Instituto de Apoio à Criança (IAC) is committed to ensure respect for children's rights and the protection of children and young people from harm by developing projects that help children to better understand their rights and to adopt safer behaviors in their daily lives.
The Day Planner IAC 2016 for the Defence and promotion of Children’s Rights is a very useful product, since, in addition to allowing remember future tasks, jot down appointments, write lists, plan your day, week and month, registering ideas and track projects, remembering special dates like birthdays, contains safety tips on the use of internet, image protection, prevention of cyberbullying, risk-free conduct habits (to prevent kidnappings) and about child abuse complaints. Addressing these issues and respective safety tips will be complemented by some educational games. Alongside this utilitarian aspect, the Day Planner IAC 2016 for the Defence and promotion of Children’s Rights offers a pleasant opportunity of reading wonderful poems and short stories written by renowned Portuguese writers such as Alice Cardoso, Antonio Torrado, Jose Fanha, Fernando Cardoso, Luisa Ducla Soares Fonseca Margarida Santos, Raquel Palermo Sara Rodi and Sylvia Alves. Each month features a poem or an allusive tale for Children. The illustrations are created from the drawings of children supported by IAC.

The money earned with the subsequent sale of Day Planner IAC 2016 for the Defence and promotion of Children’s Rights will be channeled into the development of new projects related to preventing situations of violence among young people, namely Cyberbullying whose national statistics show a significant increase in this type of violence. On the other hand, complaints about youth violence presented to IAC - SOS Children Helpline (an anonymous, confidencial contact service from IAC) deeply concern the institution, which, despite its limited resources, seeks to address all situations submitted to it.
