Polyssemies

A book full of Polyssemies, parémias, perífrases, paronomásias, prosopopeias and mainly provided by nonsense words.

This project was born prematurely in 2011 after a gestation of many years in the author's brain, weighed only a few grams but quickly acquired the necessary strength to life and got legs to walk. 

It came from the need that the author feels to express the love that he nourishes for words, the Portuguese language, the idiomatic phrases, the puns, the humor, and, of course, drawing.

All this mixed well and sprinkled with cinnamon goes in the oven and behold, the Polissemias Levas blog was born, which already has over 12,400 views and 100 cartoons. 

In 2011 some of these cartoons were published in the O Riachense newspaper in partnership with the Old Philharmonic Society Riachense, all related to the music. 

From 2013, began to be published weekly in Torrejano Newspaper. 

Already this year two exhibitions of these works were held at local gallaries.

Now the author intends to achieve his childhood dream: To Publish a Book! 

The Chiado Editora will be part of this dream and will publish 500 copies of this book, which includes 100 cartoons that will be distributed by bookstores around the country.

The book will be also available to order in any bookstore chain Saraiva and Culture in Brazil. 

For this Filipe needs to get to the amount of € 1,400. Here I ask only € 800 which will serve to pay the second half of the publishing cost, but it would be really fun to count on your support and get the whole amount.

About the author

Since the day he was born in a Thursday, March 9, 1989, Filipe has been alive - although this is not always immediately evident.

He completed his high school education in Science and Technology, in Entroncamento, where he learned that science is not his life - although he quite appreciates them, as well as a number of other subjects.

With this knowledge he entered College of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha in the course of Sound and Image, in order to specialize in Animation and Argument. He studied up to 3rd year with recognized success and held various works in this area, until it became too obvious his lack of training in drawing.

Decided to eliminate this gap, he enrolled in the course of Illustration and Comics on Ar.Co which he currently attends.

He also does many works on photography, video editing and writing.

His cartoons are being published in a local weekly newspaper.

Filipe won the 3rd prize in Cartoon Contest at Amadora BD festival, one of the most important in Portugal.
