The II Orchestra Internship AECMC is a project organized by the Student Council of Coimbra's Music Conservatory and consists in an intensive week of orchestra work, directed to young musicians. In the course of the week, the members of the project will have the oportunity of playing great and difficult orchestra pieces under the guideance of teachers of each instrument and an invited maestro.
Some of us already have experience in this sort of activities, and we consider them crucial to the development of a musician, an artist and a citizen. Working and playing in an orchestra requires technical skills, teamwork, professionalism, humility and, above all, respect for peers, for the authority and for the music that is being played. In orchestra internships, we might a lot about music and our instrument, but we become especially aware about our role in a team. Participants also have the oportunity to socialize with people from all over the country, which enables an exchange of ideas and cultures that aren't common in a daily basis.
The programme will consist of:
- "The Swan Lake" Ouverture, op.20- P.I. Tchaikovsky
- "Pavane pour une infante défunte", M.19- M. Ravel
- Concerto for cello and orchestra no.1, in A minor, op.33- C. Saint-Saëns
- "From the New World" Symphony, op.95- A. Dvořák
The orchestra will bring together about 88 musicians from all over the country. It is our goal to have a week of work, commitment and, more important, passion for music.
We ask for your help to make this happen!
