UNIVERSAL EXHIBITION OF THE PORTUGUESE MATRIX - CAMÕES 500 YEARS celebrates the 500th anniversary of the birth of Luís de Camões, poet. BECOME A CAMÕES 500 YEARS PATRON!
The Portuguese Matrix – Association for the Development of Culture and Knowledge created the Universal Exhibition of the Portuguese Matrix – Camões 500 Years , with the Statute of Cultural Interest, granted by the Ministry of Culture, to celebrate the fifth centenary of the birth of Luís de Camões, greatest exponent of Portuguese literature and symbol of the universalist vocation of the Portuguese language and culture, he is considered one of the great poets of the Western tradition. The celebrations program, curated by João Micael, president of Matriz Portuguesa and philologist Annabela Rita, members of the Executive Committee, will be officially presented on June 4, 2024, at Grémio Literário, on Rua Ivens, Nº37 1200-226 , in Lisbon.
The Exhibition also aims to encourage, at a cultural and institutional level, the revalidation of interest in the Portuguese language and in Portugal among Portuguese and non-Portuguese people. Promote Portugal’s interests and values in the Portuguese-speaking, European and global space; and, create exhibition centers and conferences with cultural, scientific and historical content, between Portugal and the world, providing a technological connection to encourage interaction with audiences from other parts of the world through the exchange of impressions, digital image files and others relating to exposure.
