Mission: take the children of Centro 6 de Maio to the beach!

We need everyone's help to provide 5 days at the beach for children who attend the Nursery and Pre-School at Centro Social 6 de Maio, in Amadora.

Our aim is to provide 5 days of beach at Fonte da Telha for the 93 children who attend the Nursery and Pre-School at Centro Social 6 de Maio. For many of these children, most of whom come from needy families, this is the first and only contact they have with the beach.

These will be unforgettable days that will remain in the memory of all children. It's a long-awaited moment! Children often ask questions throughout the school year, but since 2020 we have not been able to carry out this project, which was interrupted by the pandemic and which we have not yet been able to resume due to lack of financial resources.

About the author

The 6 de Maio Social Center is a private, non-profit Institution of Social Solidarity, under the initiative and responsibility of the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Rosary, with the approval of the Patriarchate of Lisbon, located at Estrada Militar, nº 48, Venda Nova , 2700-588 Amadora.

Its Mission aims to promote better social, educational and family integration for all individuals, preferably those most in need and excluded, and to help them acquire personal and social skills in order to exercise full citizenship, in a spirit of human solidarity and Christian. There are three main areas: Nursery, Pre-School and Community Center. The latter includes several projects and activities, in different areas: social, recreational, family, etc.

It also develops activities related to Social Pastoral.

Budget and due dates

The implementation of this project has a budget of €9830 , divided between: €7859 for transport costs (appropriate to the age of the children) and €1971 for general expenses, such as food, sunscreen, panama hats, etc.

Having secured a donation worth €4,230, we need €5,600 to ensure our commitment to the children who attend the 6 de Maio Social Center, which we would very much like to see come true.
