SAFIRA '18 | Festival of Arts in the Landscape

The SAFIRA | Festival of Arts in the Landscape is a cultural event, of free entrance, that combines different shows (theater, performance, dance, music) with the beauty of the Alentejo landscape, in a very relaxed and pleasant environment.

As usual, SAFIRA proposes to offer a multidisciplinary, free access event that brings together, on the same day, a diverse set of shows, surprising proposals that are not part of the mainstream cultural offer and therefore unknown to many people .

The idea is to provide a fun and stimulating cultural experience, to watch with friends and family.

For the 2018 edition, SAFIRA proposes an alignment that integrates two dance moments (RONI CHADASH + BRUNO DUARTE & ELSON MARLON FERREIRA) + two music concerts (MIRA MAR + FIRE FIRE) and one session of poetry (POEMOR).

The date, as tradition, will be the first Saturday in July (7).

In order to carry out this programming without resulting in a huge "financial hole", SAFIRA needs the support of all those who identify with the project, its loyal audience and those who do not know it yet!

About the author

It was the desire to find alternative forms of using the scenic (and environmental) potential of the Alentejo ecosystem, that led to the creation of SAFIRA | Festival of Arts in the Landscape. 

The fact that the project mentor is a landscape architect helps to explain some of the key features of SAFIRA.

Miguel Carrelo (aka Chaparro Inquieto) has been dedicating an important part of his professional career to the study of the urban landscape - with work developed in areas such as urban design, outdoor advertising and urban art - which does not prevent him from enjoying projects in rural areas, and in particular, Alentejo.

But this utopia, which is to organize a cultural event outside the great urban centers, in the countryside, and free of charge, has only survived these 8 years (6 editions) because it has the support of a faithful network of collaborators and supporters, who are keen to keep it alive, at the expense of their commitment and generosity.

This network includes the family and some close friends, but also cultural associations, official and local authorities and companies, which most of the time contribute with materials, voluntary labor and some (little) financial support. In this context, it is worth mentioning the following collaborations:

O ESPAÇO DO TEMPO - Cultural Association, which since 2012 has been intensely dedicated to "putting SAFIRA to work".

GERADOR - "platform of action and communication for the Portuguese culture that believes that the identity of a country is the federation of all their personal cultures." - which will be a partner of SAFIRA '18.
