The "Carbo App" is a mobile application for type 1 diabetics with the goal to perform the whole process of counting carbohydrates, optimizing the amount of insulin to be administered, avoiding hypo and hyperglycemia.

Carbo App is already developed and is in the test phase (www.carbo.pt). We therefore want to improve the database by increasing the number of foods included in the database (currently with approximately 3000 foods), including photos of foods and their allergens for a more correct and safe choice of food; to develop the social and educational side through the inclusion of periodical publications to promote a healthy diet; and to update to new functionalities of the application.

About the author

The nutritionist began her degree in Nutrition Sciences in 2010, by the Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Unversidade do Porto, where she was the winner of the "Forward Nutrition" contest with Carbo App. At her internship admission to the Order of Nutritionists had the opportunity to contact with clinical, sports and research area, being the last one elected. Research Fellow at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto since 2017, she completed her master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and joined the Doctoral Program in Public Health in 2018.
