Binhanquinhe Quimor, or simply Binhan, is a Bissau-Guinean musician, composer and performer. From an early age he revealed his talent for music which earned him a solid reputation throughout Guinea Bissau after years of performing at local and regional festivals across the country where he won several singing contests. In 2008, Binhan was considered by critics as Cantor Revelation of the Year in Guinea-Bissau. But the recognition in the new Guinean music scene happened with his call by the master Adriano Atchutchy to integrate the mythical national band Super Mama Djombo as one of the main singers in a new formation. With the Super Mama Djombo, he participated in recording "Pure Air" in Iceland and consequently accompanied the band on several tours throughout Europe, Africa and Asia.
He was awarded the prize for outstanding modern music singer at the "1st Guiné n'dade National Gala" in December 2014.
Then came the recording of his debut album "Lifanti Pupa" which reveals a singer who stands out for the melody of his music. "Lifante Pupa" presents songs of intervention and criticism to the behavior of the Guinean military and political class as "Bolserus" or "Turpeça Dissabidu", but beautiful love songs such as "Mariana" and "Lifanti Kala" can also be found, hymns to his country as "Amor só Amor" and "Guiné Nha Terra" and even more danceable themes like "Sega" or "Tudo na Passa". Binhan sings in Creole and other dialects of Guinea Bissau being a true ambassador of the culture and tradition of his country. The album was recorded between Bissau and Abidjan and features the special participation of Queen Etmen (Cameroun), Tshaga son of Aicha Kon (Ivory Coast) and the great singer Monique Seka (Cote d'Ivoire).
We seek with this campaign to continue its career and to try to bring the BINHAN and the music of Guinée Bissau to the rest of the world.
