Synopsis
Roots is a book that should not have been written, edited or distributed. Roots is the story of a man and the war. The artist Jordi Llorella Oriol creates an account of his grandfather starting with photographs, letters and manuscripts during the Spanish Civil War. This book speaks of the fear, the cowardice and the folly of a man and a people.

I followed the trail for Colonias Menonitas, Chaco Boreal (Paraguay) when I was walking behind the remains of the Jesuit world in South America with little boxes called "his magic boxes" or running the newspaper "La Sombra" in Yerevan (Armenia) or filming the remains of Noah's Ark on Mount Ararat (Turkey) or creating an Art Laboratory on Mamori Lake (Amazonas) ... "

He grew up in a gray town, where ancient legends still tread through dark woods, a world in which his grandparents told him stories by the fireplace, while cold rain danced outside, and his child's mind lit up in the dark.
Here arose the ardent need to create and transpose in images these roots, the same ones that still attach it to the wetlands, of any winter and of any place.
