Located in the Algarve JP Custom Guitars builds customized string instruments since 1999.
The best woods are chosen and arrive from all over the world. With mastery and dedication it`s carved into instruments of unique characteristics and build according to customer specifications.
The quality of the instruments from JP Custom Guitars has build up trust and respect of Portuguese and foreign musicians. The growing success of the company can acknowledged by the interest of the media and the several well-known artists who started using JP instrument.
15 years over and there is the need to internationalize the business and approach other markets.
So this is how another challenge for JP Custom Guitars came up: take its instruments to the biggest European event, the international music and music instruments fair in Frankfurt Germany. With over 65 thousand visitors the fair brings together a diversified public from artists, teachers and manufacturers, etc. This is a true opportunity the open JP Custom Guitar`s doors to the world.
Though presenting an enormous potential, the fair is not easily accessible to JP Custom Guitar. Unfortunately it is not possible to accommodate the entire cost of participation with a company structure with our size.
We launched this crowed funding project, reaching out to all of our customers, fans, and friends, to all of those who believe in the project of customized handmade instruments.

About the author
The promoter of this project is JP Custom Guitars, customized string instruments proudly built in Portugal since 15 years.
To make this project, a team of artists, professionals, amateurs, enthusiasts, curious guys, friends and even people with very few talent ;) have join together. Here we present the main:
João Pessoa – Luthier
The true artist, he actually doesn’t` even want to go to Frankfurt (but he will J) expose the magnificent instruments he builds! JP is of course the one responsible for the construction of all the instruments present at the fair.
Luís Leal – Project Manager
He is a professional project manager but dreams of appearing on MTV and give away autographs. He is responsible for keeping the guys on track, for the management of the resources and cost, inscriptions and administration of the “Job”.
Hugo Charrão – Designer
Because this project is essentially a communication project, we needed the big man to do it, good with hand drawing and even has a violin (though he cannot play). Hugo is responsible for the design, communication of the project and Stand Conception for the fair.
Bruno Pita – IT Engineer
He still has not understood well why he is on the project and how much work he shall have. He is the only musician worldwide that has a percussion instrument from JP. He is responsible for all binary code :) crucial for a project like this.
Mário Dias –Public Employee
This gentleman besides having a bubbling creativity, has been wanting to make a video of JP Custom Guitars in action for years. He is responsible for the filming, editing, producing, and cameramen.
A lot of people have directly or indirectly given their contribution for launching this project. We would like to mention, Bruno Jorge, João Saraiva, Sebastião Coelho and Telma Veríssimo. Our most sincere thanks to these and all the other friends for their support.
