The Tuna of the Portuguese Catholic University - Oporto will hold its 9th edition of the Festival of Tunas " Padrecos " . After the celebrations of its 25th anniversary , the Festival " Padrecos " is back in 2016 to toast the "invicta" town with a show provided by Tunas of recognized quality , making known an important part of the academic tradition that exists in our country.

The Tuna of the Portuguese Catholic University - Oporto will hold its 9th edition of the Festival of Tunas " Padrecos " . After the celebrations of its 25th anniversary , the Festival " Padrecos " is back in 2016 to toast the "invicta" town with a show provided by Tunas of recognized quality , making known an important part of the academic tradition that exists in our country.

Throughout these nine editions the Festival " Padrecos " always excelled by gifting the audience with a spectacle of high quality, diversity and joy , having already invited a wide range of Tunas , whether Portuguese or foreign .

This year will not be an exception . For this 9th edition we are preparing a high magnitude event, which combine a good show with good conditions for the guests Tunas, to make them feel at home when they visit the city of Porto.

The " Padrecos " is back and for this edition we are preparing new activities and surprises to further enrich the Festival and provide a great spectacle for all those who support us .

Tuna da Universidade Católica Portuguesa - Porto

The chronicles say that in mid- 1989 , a group of students from Catholic University - Oporto Regional Center met in order to foster in our university, Music, Tradition and Academic Bohemia . Thus, in December 1989 , this group has increased by more enthusiasts, presents itself under the name of " Mendes Harmonica Trio " in the Christmas celebrations of the Student Association of the Faculty of Law and School of Biotechnology of the UCP - Porto.

Thus, the Tuna of the Portuguese Catholic University has emerged as an area of cultural and gastronomic conviviality among students in higher education , particularly the law faculties , Economics and Management , Theology, the College of Biotechnology , School of Arts , Psychology and Health Sciences, UCP - Oporto Regional Center where all their members study.

A Festival of this magnitude , as the " Padrecos " which aims to provide a great event for the city of Oporto, entails high costs , such as accommodation and food for Tunas invited throughout the weekend , as well as spending on spectacles room and safety conditions for spectators , among others. The Festival budget is around 17,000€.
