We are already in the countdown to the 1st Congress of the Bombo, which will be held on November 28 and 29, in the Aula Magna of the Rectory of the University of Lisbon. The 1º Congresso do Bombo intends to serve as a meeting place for different people, projects and related organizations or with intervention within the framework of traditional percussion and to be a space enabler of reflection and discussion of research, learning and knowledge, innovation and creativity, of new ideas and projects, sharing of experience and good practices, and implementation of new networks of cooperation.

The 1st Congress of Bombo seeks articulate the reflection and concrete intervention and to convene the research, science and social scientists, but also public administrations (central and local), the creators, artists and musicians, the builders of instruments (craftsmen and enterprises), the teachers and educators artistic and cultural agents in general.

The 1st Congress of Bombo is accredited as a training measure.

Teachers should register on the continuous training of teachers in Training Center of Associação de Escolas do Seixal. 

will be also performed complementary activities and adjacent areas in the Aula Magna will be created spaces for exposure and dissemination of organizations and projects.

About the author

Since 1996 and assuming as mission the promotion and enhancement of Portuguese culture and, in particular, of the different expressions of the traditional percussion, Tocá Rufar is renowned for its sociocultural intervention indissociable from values of citizenship, inclusion and social cohesion and civic participation of citizens.

In particular, the various projects of Tocá Rufar aim to promote the integral formation of children, young people and adults and their personal and social development, through alternative models of non-formal and informal education and artistic practices, involving the communities in a shared process and decentralized sociocultural intervention.

These are the values that give expression to our uniqueness and that materialized our mission to preserve the traditional Portuguese percussion while relevant component of national cultural identity, today being unanimously recognized the role of Tocá Rufar:

• in the disclosure of the Bombo while iconic instrument of popular culture;
• in the revitalization of traditional groups;
• in the stimulus and support for the creation of new projects and groups.
