School+

The Monster Place Association School program promotes the education of children from 6 to 16 years old, from families on social fragility of Vale de Santarém. It aims to provide our children free lessons in support for students of 3rd and 4th grade.

In this program, the Cultural Association Monster Place aims to support free children education of families in social fragility in Vale de Santarém.

Education is a necessary condition for the cultural promotion and community development.

The Association Monster Place intends to implement a program to support the neediest families in Vale de Santarém to fund academic development of their children in school year 2015/2016.
The School+ project arises from the need to value the school as a privileged moment for the education of children and create moments of educational and extra curricular educational support.

Is materialized with the extracurricular follow-up study support during the eight months of the academic school year of primary school children in Vale de Santarém.

Monster Place aims to support one family at a time.

Monster Place will thus provide the support service to study for 1 child (3rd ou4º year) during the three academic periods, with the frequency of twice a week (4hours). With this measure, we intend to break through support for education, with the established cycle of poverty by reducing school failure of the neediest families. We have this action to reduce the risks to long-term social exclusion.

About the author

The Association Monster Place is a cultural and artistic non-profit association. He was born in this year's willingness to help and promote art and culture as a form of social intervention.

So we are a group of people with training and work in the communities and we decided to translate our intentions into action.

We want to start developing activities related to children and the local community in need. We intend to have puppet theater activities, theme atliers, Hour of the tale, among other activities.

The management consists on three people: Artur Mesquita, Rita Mesquita and Andreia Nunes, the last two have a master's degree and experience in community intervention. The remaining Association menbros are people with good will and with the most varied formations.

Budget and due dates

Support for the study has a time value of around 6€.

So if we are to support one child (or the 4th year 3rd year) during the eight months academic, 4 hours week, we reached a value of 960€ per child.

This amount is increased 15% for pool expenses, organization, space and material support, which prefaz a total value of 1,104€ per child.

Given the first academic period have already given the beginning, we have some urgency in the project, so we want the campaign has a duration of 32 days.
