Fundraising for portuguese ALS association APELA.
This fundraising aims donating all the money possible for APELA Association, the Portuguese Association of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
What is ALS?
The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative neurological disease, progressive and rare, the most common form of Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
In ALS, motor neurons (electrical cables) that carry information from the brain to the muscles in our body, through the spinal cord die early. As a result, these muscles, which are the ones that make us move (skeletal striated muscles) get weaker.
The APELA objectives are:
Promote disclosure of the nature of the disease with civil society, patients, families, doctors and all the technical staff involved in the health field. Support patients with ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and family in order to clarify and help them in solving their various problems.

The person who encouraged me to create this fundraising is Anita (https://www.facebook.com/SweetHopeCookies), whose brother died with this terrible disease. So every year Anita promotes numerous actions, and the Bake to Defeat ALS is the largest, most important and the one that collects the largest amount of funds. See all the action in http://www.baketodefeatals.com
In Portugal, we will help APELA.
In exchange for your donation, I will send you wonderful cookies from Nuvem de Açúcar, from September.
Participate and make your good deed into something very sweet!
